Thipyaporn Khempila writes,

"Pakjitpakjai" project is a Sachiko cloth embroidery project by the blind; Sachiko is a traditional Japanese style of cloth embroidery. The training of this project is supported by Thailand Association of the Blind (TAV) and Thailand Association of Blind for the branch of the Northern Region altogether with Misses Wandee Santiwuthamethee and Auntie Panoo teacher of Sewing Studio in Chiang Mai. For the early time of the project, Pakjitpakjai was begun training the first blind group of six people at the Association of the Blind in Chiang Mai province in June 3, 2018. Within this first group of blind embroidery makers, they are local or living on the mountains of the northern provinc of Thailand. This project is planned to expand the training for the blind throughout the country and aims to be a new career for the blind in Thailand.
This project is considered as a social enterprise which is not only to sale products made by the blind but also raise up level of potential skill and value of the products. The products striped Sachiko embroidery on products with a variety of patterns as geometric patterns; square, triangle and circle etc.
In Thailand, if we talk about the issue of careers for the blind, we probably have the answer in just a few careers; lottery sailors, singers, or Thai massagers. According to the statistics of the Association of the Blind in Thailand in October 2018, the blind people who have their own occupation is currently accounted for only 20% of the blind around the country.
Nowadays, Pakjitpakjai project has more than 40 blind makers of Sachiko embroidery. TAB is stillThere continuing to train the blind to become Sachiko embroidery makers in Chiang Mai and will also have a plan to expand this project into Bangkok,Thailand. For the section of products, there are a variety of products striped with Sachiko embroidery pattern such as scarfs, bags, key chain, home decorating products, coasters for glasses and so on. All handmade products made by blind embroidery makers in Pakjitpakjai project are launched to sale through Facebook Page “Pakjitpakjai”
