Conference of “the Implementation of ASEAN Enabling Masterplan - Sustainable Development and Inclusive Society for All

On September 9, 2019, Thailand Association of the Blind (TAB) organized the conference on the Implementation of the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan in Thailand, at Grand Tower Inn, Bangkok, Thailand.
 
By the main point of leaving no one behind, the conference had objectives to disseminate the ASEAN Enabling masterplan 2025 and to build awareness for all sectors in Thai society to understand and recognize the important issues of the rights to Persons with disabilities. It’s also dealing with empowerment in the ASEAN community towards the mainstream and equality.
Moreover, this conference aimed to motivate the participation of relevant sectors in the implementation of the masterplan and to lead to increased capacity and cooperation in order to transforming the rights of ASEAN disability population.
The conference consisted of
Keynote speech on "Implementation of the ASEAN Enabling masterplan in Thailand”               by Dr. Seree Nonthasoot, Senior Executive Vice President of the Institute for Research and Development for Public Enterprises, and a former representative of Thailand in the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.
Keynote speech on "Expectations of Persons with disabilities to Drive the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan of the Legislative Assembly" by Mr. Monthian Buntan, Senator
Keynote speech on “Mainstreaming of the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan with the government policies” By Dr. Anusaree Tubsuwan, member of the House of Representatives.
And there were TAB representatives who joint and participated in sharing knowledge for the sessions.
Correspondingly, the plenary session on “Advocacy and Implementation of ASEAN Enabling Masterplan” was organized and presented by representatives from government agencies, including the Ministry of Development and Human Security, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance. Furthermore, the representative of AGENDA from Indonesia joint and observed the conference as well.
All sessions were built to implement the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan in Thailand. to drive true participation of Thai persons with disabilities in order to achieve the set goals of all 3 pillars, which are ASEAN Political-Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community, and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.
On this occasion, the signing ceremony of the policy platform occurred for confirming and supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan in Thailand.
 
Regarding to the ASEAN Enabling Master Plan, Thailand Association of the Blind collaborating with other stakeholders is willing to take part in driving a peaceful, secure, stable and sustainable ASEAN community. It’s for developing the quality of life of all Thais with disabilities including blind and partially sighted persons, to live as no one left behind.
